TORONTO, ON — On Friday, March 6, 2026, acclaimed family musician Chris McKhool will celebrate his 2026 JUNO Award nomination for Children’s Album of the Year with a joyful and interactive Pizza & Pyjamas – JUNO Nomination Party in Toronto. The free family concert takes place from 6:00–7:00 PM at Kingston Road United Church (975 Kingston Road), with doors opening at 5:00 PM and free pizza served at 5:30 PM.

The event celebrates McKhool’s newly nominated album “Little Leaf” while also marking his remarkable 30th anniversary as a family entertainer. This is his second JUNO nomination in the Children’s Album category, following his Canadian Folk Music Award–winning project FiddleFire!.

Hosted by the Kingston Road Village Concert Series, the evening promises music, celebration, and community spirit.

“Those of us at the Kingston Road Village Concert Series couldn’t be more excited to host a free family concert with the modern-day Raffi, Chris McKhool,” says founder Tim Dawson. “His beautiful spirit, incredible generosity, and fabulous songwriting skills will bring joy to families of all ages.”

McKhool will be joined by members of his six-time Canadian Folk Music Award–winning world music ensemble Sultans of String, including:

  • Saskia Tomkins (fiddle & nyckelharpa)

  • Kevin Laliberté (guitar)

  • Drew Birston (bass)

Together, they will create an enchanting and fully interactive performance where children join the band on stage with percussion instruments from around the world, dance to global grooves, and sing songs celebrating environmental stewardship and community connection.

A Celebration of Nature, Music & Community

Little Leaf explores themes of environmental awareness, Indigenous collaboration, and global unity. The album includes contributions from Ojibway Elder Duke Redbird and songs by Canadian legends David Archibald and Bing Jensen.

“Little Leaf songs speak to the miracle of life on Earth and how all living beings around us are part of our community,” says McKhool. “They celebrate the wonder of the natural world and connect us to each other in meaningful ways.”

For three decades, McKhool has blended music with environmental activism, inspiring over one million children through live performances and television appearances on Treehouse, TVO, Mr. Dressup, CITY-TV, and CBC. Known as “Canada’s greatest eco-troubadour for young people” (Mississauga Living Arts Centre) and a “Children’s musical star” (National Post), McKhool continues to lead the next generation toward empathy, awareness, and joyful participation.

Recently awarded Burlington’s Key to the City and a recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, McKhool’s accolades include multiple Canadian Folk Music Awards, Parents’ Choice Awards, Green Toronto Awards, and induction into the Burlington Performing Arts Centre Hall of Fame.

From creating the World’s Largest Bicycle Bell Orchestra at Yonge-Dundas Square with over 800 bell ringers to receiving international recognition at Cannes World Film Festival, McKhool’s work consistently bridges art, activism, and accessibility.
