ERROL STARR AND TRIBZ RELEASE NEW SINGLE “TRUE LOVE”
HAMILTON, ON — Canadian blues-rock veterans Errol Starr and Tribz release their new single “True Love,” a soulful, groove-driven track that draws on decades of collective musicianship and the deep roots of Canadian rock, R&B, and blues.
Led by JUNO Award-winning vocalist Errol Starr, the band features guitarist Earl Johnson, founding member of the influential rock group Moxy. Johnson’s blues-rooted guitar work and Starr’s powerful, expressive vocals form the emotional core of the project, blending classic sensibilities with contemporary energy.
Drummer Dave Davidson played a key role in bringing the band together, uniting Johnson and bassist Donny Hill at his home to form the foundation of Tribz. Davidson, a longtime member of the American Rogues, also helped guide the band’s early studio sessions, with “True Love” being the first song the group created together.
Written by Johnson and completed collaboratively, “True Love” is built on patience, feel, and emotional honesty. The band self-produced the single to preserve the organic chemistry of their live sound, allowing each performance to breathe within a tight, soulful groove.
Lyrically reflective and heartfelt, the song explores themes of love, regret, and realization with understated clarity — carried by lines such as, “Too many times I never realized just what I had.”
With growing interest from blues radio and festival programmers across Canada and the U.S., “True Love” marks a strong statement from a band that balances heritage with forward momentum.
