BELINDA BRADY RELEASES “RISE UP” — A CHARITY ANTHEM FOR HURRICANE MELISSA VICTIMS

TORONTO, ON — Two-time JUNO Award nominee Belinda Brady releases “Rise Up,” a powerful reggae anthem of hope and resilience written in response to the devastation of Hurricane Melissa. Out now via Slammin’ Media and Believe Distribution, the single is both an artistic statement and a humanitarian effort — with all proceeds benefiting Food for the Poor Jamaica to support communities rebuilding across western Jamaica.

Written and composed by Brady alongside her husband, Grammy-nominated and JUNO Award-winning producer Eddie Bullen, “Rise Up” transforms tragedy into collective strength. Rooted in Jamaica’s national motto, “Out of Many, One People,” the song calls for unity, action, and compassion in the face of disaster.

“Come together, let our hearts unite / Angels fly from around the world / Lifting spirits high, relieving our sorrows / So we can be strong,” Brady sings, her voice carrying both conviction and vulnerability over Bullen’s masterful reggae production.

Lyrically, the track does not shy away from the human toll of Hurricane Melissa. Brady addresses the crisis directly, painting vivid images of displaced children, destroyed homes, and families losing decades of hard work overnight. Yet rather than dwell in despair, the song builds toward a defiant, uplifting refrain: “We will rise, we will rise, we will rise.”

Brady’s connection to Jamaica runs deep. Raised in Kingston before building her career in Canada, she has performed alongside internationally renowned artists including Shaggy, Julian Marley, and Denyse Plummer. She was honoured as one of Canada’s 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women in 2018 and has served as a music ambassador for UN Women Canada, reinforcing her long-standing commitment to using music as a tool for social change.

Her musical lineage is equally significant — her father, Carl Brady, was a founding member of the legendary Byron Lee and the Dragonaires, a band that helped define modern Jamaican music. That legacy of community, joy, and resilience runs through “Rise Up.”

Brady’s previous collaborations — including work with Leroy “Artist” Brown and reggae icon Sly Dunbar — have showcased her ability to blend infectious rhythms with meaningful messages. “Rise Up” continues that tradition, pairing strong songwriting with a clear humanitarian purpose.

With more than 15,000 streams and 90,000+ video views to date, Brady positions “Rise Up” as both a standout musical release and a vehicle for real-world impact. Every stream, download, and share contributes directly to relief efforts in Jamaica.

As recovery from Hurricane Melissa continues, “Rise Up” stands as both a tribute to those affected and a rallying cry for global solidarity — proof that music, when rooted in purpose, can inspire action and healing.

“Rise Up” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
