Steve Poltz Releases New Single, JoyRide Ahead of Canadian Tour
STEVE POLTZ RELEASES 14TH STUDIO ALBUM JOYRIDE AHEAD OF MAJOR CANADIAN TOUR
Halifax-born, internationally beloved troubadour Steve Poltz has released his 14th studio album, JoyRide, via Red House Records, available now on all streaming platforms with vinyl, CD, and exclusive new merchandise also on sale.
Recorded at the historic 3Sirens studio in East Nashville, TN, JoyRide was produced by GRAMMY®-nominated multi-instrumentalist Dex Green (Shemekia Copeland, Elvis Costello, Margo Price, Nicole Atkins). The 10-song collection captures Poltz’s signature blend of razor-sharp wit, poetic storytelling, and high-spirited Americana.
The album includes the topical first single “If It Bleeds, It Leads,” the raucous follow-up “Love a Little Bigger” (co-written with Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon), and fan-ready standouts like “Fixin’ Up,” co-written with Americana legend Jim Lauderdale and 2018 CCMA Songwriter of the Year Skip Black.
“Capturing me in a studio is like convincing a whirling dervish to stop spinning long enough to sign a bill into law,” says Poltz. “It’s chaos, caffeine, and accidental poetry — art colliding with microphones and commerce in a glorious mess. That’s how JoyRide happened. No seatbelts, no helmets. Just unsaturated, unadulterated art.”
Critics continue to champion Poltz’s singular presence:
“Steve Poltz could be one of the biggest acts in the land… once you’ve seen a Poltz show, you tell everybody about it.” — Bob Lefsetz
“His observations on life’s details ring with sarcasm and underlying truth… Poltz is a balm for these times.” — GLIDE
