Betty Strings Releases New Single “Trust Myself”
Toronto, ON – Betty Strings Trust Myself is the deeply personal new single from the Macedonia-born, Toronto-based artist, marking a powerful new chapter in her healing journey and delivering a raw anthem about reclaiming self-worth after trauma.
Co-written with 2007 Canadian Idol winner Brian Melo and songwriter Paul William Stephens, the song was born from an intimate Zoom writing session where Cook courageously shared her lived experience in real time. What began as a conversation about trust evolved into an emotionally layered track that captures the journey from survival mode to self-acceptance.
Featuring expressive banjo work by Matt Fasullo, Betty Strings Trust Myself blends vulnerability with quiet strength. Lyrically, the song explores what happens when past trauma turns your own inner voice into an adversary — and what it takes to reclaim that voice as your ally.
Written in 2022 but held back until Cook felt emotionally ready to sing it with full authenticity, the single reflects years of healing work. “I needed to do the work first,” she explains. “I wasn’t ready to bring these songs to life until I could stand firm in trust and acceptance.”
With themes of faith, resilience, and self-reclamation, Betty Strings Trust Myself transforms deeply personal struggle into a message that resonates universally. It marks a defining step forward for an artist unafraid to turn pain into purpose.
“Trust Myself” is now available on Spotify and all streaming platforms.
